Quick Writing
Every ELA class begins with 5 minutes of writing. A few years ago I had a theory that if students wrote every day, they couldn't help but become better writers. So far, the theory was correct. Students are given a motivator and are asked to write for 5 solid minutes, no matter where their thoughts take them...we call it "Following the rabbit trail". Here are the daily themes we have come up with for our Quick Writes:
* Music Monday * Top 10 Tuesday / Time Travel Tuesday * Would You Rather Wednesday * Three Random Noun Thursday * Photo Friday / Free Write Friday |
